Hello. Thanks again for clicking on to read. I hope my previous posts have managed to offer some valuable insights into all things sales, marketing, client success and creating more revenue and roi from your current marketing effort.
As a client acquisition specialist, I often get asked a lot if paid ads/marketing is better or content marketing (everything else that's free - but hey, creating content isn't technically free as you still need to pour in resources like time, tools, editors, copywriting) ?
My answer? It depends on your business, sales process, customer journey and goals.
That's why I can't answer well without having these contexts.
Having worked with multiple clients now, I see the benefits of synergizing both instead of choosing sides... why A or B and why not A & B :D
While some screw paid methods, some also screw content/organic method - reason being, well it precisely still boils down to their unique objective and customer buying process...
If you're looking at organic marketing for dental , real estate, aesthetics clinic, financial products, even education..
Here's my 5 suggestions if you want the best of both world to grow your sales:
Adopt using ads as a traffic increasing tools to your content kind of mindset
Build a Lead Nurturing system instead of expecting ads to bring you more sales, see it as bringing you more warmer intent leads/traffic and you continue to nurture them with valuable insights, educate them on the problem and solutions so that your products stand out to them as the best solution
Strategise your ads I often see people complaining about ads costing a lot - no doubt it does increase over the year in cost, but oftentimes I also see people putting out ineffective ads - wrong message, wrong/unattractive hook/ads creative, unattractive offer - and then, they blame the ads for being not effective.
Have an effective and efficient 24/7 follow up system when leads opt-in THIS is the top most common pitfall for those who run ads and complain how ineffective/expensive it is. The reason? ineffective/sub optimised follow up.. mistakes like: 1. long follow up reply or NO follow up reply 2. Not following up enough / consistently enough 3. Don't have a proper CRM to track, trace, measure to improve sales process/make better decisions/tweak
Optimise content for conversionHave a proper wholesome content plan - narrow down to your top 3 objective like educate, inspire, entertain.. varieties help to build long term relationship and encourage leads /target audience to continue consume your content - provided your content provide real values to those who consume + build trust towards your brand/productCommon mistake to avoid: Try to balance being too salesy to being educational/insightful instead. Add effective CTA to drive audience to the next step . ie DMs, landing page to find out more, download valuable lead magnet that help them solve a problem/give a quick win.
I hope this article provides some insight as to what are the priorities to consider first before taking sides.
Now, in a more and more connected time especially digitally.. perhaps it's wiser to not pick a side but to synergise with as much as possible.
A conventonal example: Starbucks/McDonald - they open at very strategic places.
Now bring this to online - it's good to position ourselves, be seen at strategic places digitally - so is this still a question of choosing side? why not maximise all? :)
